I missed the Hora…

A match made in heaven - that’s how I would describe Jenna and Rick. I knew we would be an awesome fit when I asked what their wedding theme was, and their response was, “Alcohol?” I realize as I write this that my previous blog post talked about clients who enjoy the taste of moonshine…Is this a trend or a happy coincidence? You might need to read more of my blog posts to find out, I guess hehe.

Jenna made me try this wine…highly recommend.

Jenna and Rick got married at The Common House in Richmond, VA. One of my first weddings was there, and it felt like I was in a movie where it shows the protagonist in the same spot two years later, with an obvious hairstyle change to indicate that time has passed. I would say this was the same for me - my hair was longer and didn’t have highlights way back when. Since we’re on the movie theme, you can see how Jenna and Rick are both bookworms, telephone booth operators, and wealthy members of the Mafia in this “film.”

It was my first Jewish wedding, and one of the things I will never get tired of is seeing how various cultures celebrate such a joyous occasion. And let me tell you…they did NOT disappoint. I will say that my greatest excitement was my goal of taking action shots of the Hora (the infamous chair dance as I like to call it), but they did that after my shift AND while I was in the bathroom. I’ll forgive them one day…but that was a hard pill to swallow.

Regardless, I had such a fun time with them. Jenna is the life of the party, and Rick is her calming presence that loves her in all her forms. It reminds me of my own relationship with my significant other, and it was so great to see.

For those that still are with me, thank you. I turn 23 in one day, and I am so happy that some of you have enjoyed this journey of a girl who likes to make people smile and then capture it at the same time. Let me know if you have a wedding with a theme of alcohol because we just might be the perfect match ;).

P.S. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the staff at The Common House were some of the most fun people I have EVER worked with. I mean, breaking it down with the bride while working the bar is a skill not all possess, but this man does.
